Dear
Friends and Family,
Greetings
from the Grubbs family! We hope that you are enjoying this holiday
season.
This
is Hallie writing our family Christmas
letter.
Our
family has had a busy year. We have had so many visits from our
family. First, My grandparents and Aunt Leslie and Uncle Ty came for
a visit in March. Then we went to the Oregon Coast with our cousins
for Spring Break. In May my Grandma Law came with Aunt Melissa and
her 3 kids. Then in July we went to Utah and visited our family.
While we were there we went with Dad's side of the family to Lake
Powell. In August we met up with Uncle Todd and Aunt Natalie's
family in Montana to ride the Hiawatha bike trail. The most recent
visit was from our Grandparents on Mom's side, Aunt Tamra and Uncle
Dustin's family, and Aunt Melissa and Uncle Jeff's family. They came
for Thanksgiving. I admit that we are spoiled as far as visiting
family goes.
Our
family has grown and changed this year. Carson is the youngest
member of our family and has grown the most over the last year. He
quickly transitioned from crawling to walking and is cruising around
the house. This fall he learned to crawl down the stairs instead of
tumbling head first. In October Carson had his very first birthday!
After eating his cake he was covered in frosting from head to toe.
Carson is very friendly at church. He just waddles around and says
hello in his own special way. You just have to love this boy!
Now
onto my beloved brother Davis. He turned 4 this December and was
ecstatic! It is amazing that he has grown so much within the year.
Even though Davis continues to be shy at times he is doing much
better than before. Lately he likes to play with a certain toy that
Megan and I own. Sometimes he is in our room playing for over an
hour. It is quite obvious that he loves the Playmobil. I would not
be surprised if Davis gets some Playmobil for Christmas.
Campbell
turned 5 on February 13th. In the spring he graduated
from preschool and moved on to kindergarten. This is his first year
in Elementary school and he has to go to Fruitland. Fruitland is a
very old substitute school (while they remodel the elementary)
but at least he likes his class. When he came home the first day of
school we asked him how kindergarten was and he said, “It's not as
weird as you think.” He is such a funny kid.
Now
let's place the spotlight on Megan. As many of you know about a
month after Megan's 9th birthday she was diagnosed with
Type 1 Diabetes. We were very frightened. I know that I was
terrified. She was flown to a Children's Hospital in Spokane for a
few days and after that she was good as new. While Megan was in
Spokane she missed the first few days of school. She is now in Ms.
Kovesday's 4th grade class. She is as healthy and happy
as ever and hardly ever complains about her daily insulin shots.
Mom's
34th birthday was in September and she is extremely busy
with 5 kids screaming, running around with scissors, and other deadly
objects. She is still in the Relief Society Presidency at church. I
don't know how she does it but mom has been able to paint the office
yellow and build a banquette this year. Even though every day is
hectic, mom always finds time to do something crafty.
We
can't forget about Dad. March 10th was his 34th
birthday as well and this fall he got a new (to us) truck to pull our
camping trailer. Dad loves to take us kids 4-wheeling and go with
his friends too (although someone usually ends up crashing). He has
been busy building a shed and a fence to hide the shed since the HOA
didn't want to see the shed. A really nice thing that happened to
Dad was he got LASIK! After reshaping a part of Dad's eyes with a
laser he can see perfectly without glasses!
Last
but certainly not least, ME! This spring I turned 11 years old.
After I finished 5th grade I went to a Marimba camp and
sewing camp. Another thing I enjoyed over the summer was swimming
lessons! Once summer ended I started Middle School. I like Middle
School, it is new and exciting. The only problem is that there is so
much homework and so little time. Those who are still in
elementary... don't complain. Even though homework is hard I still
get A's. The best part about school is being with my friend Hannah.
Hannah and I have all the same classes together. I've also made some
new friends! This year I started playing violin along with the piano
and I really like it.
That
is pretty much all I can remember about this eventful year. I hope
you had great year too.
